Scripture gives us many example of “prayer blocks” — things that hinder our prayers from being answered.
Here are some examples from Scripture:
“If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; 19 but God has surely listened and has heard my prayer.” Psalm 66:18-19
“Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.” 1 Peter 3:7
“Son of man, these men have set up idols in their hearts and put wicked stumbling blocks before their faces. Should I let them inquire of me at all?” Ezekiel 14:3
“And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” Mark 11:25
If prayer is warfare (which it is obviously is), soldiers in the battle need to shed anything that would keep them from being an effective fighting force. Take note of these texts, repent accordingly, and then throw yourself into the work of praying for God’s kingdom to come in our lives, our church, our nation, and the world.
