Eight Theses on Tithing (should be nine theses)

This paper on tithing is now almost 30 years old, so I’m sure I would say some things differently now. I also always intended to add a ninth thesis on tithing as a liturgical act, and develop the place of the offertory in the weekly Lord’s Day covenant renewal service, but as of today I have not gotten to it. But since there is some interest in this topic, I am posting it here. Unfortunately, I have to post it as a pdf because the footnotes would take some time to transfer into a blog post.
