This is an interesting X thread on the Cornell 7 case:
The sexual revolution is a failed experiment – as every sexual revolution is. A moral reckoning for generations of rebellion against God and his law is coming. We are reaping what we have sown, and the fruit is bitter. Everyone who fights against God loses. The sexual revolution bet on sexual libertinism as they key to happiness, but it was always going to be a losing bet.
The culture is now slowly working its way back to Christian sexual ethics. Separating sex from marriage and children always, always results in catastrophe for everyone involved. It destroys lives and civilizations.
An article like this one in The Harvard Crimson is not the same as repentance. But it’s a step in the right direction. We ‘re getting closer and closer to “reinventing” marriage, and figuring out that the church’s teaching was right along.
The crass language of “body count” for the number of sexual partners someone has had is very telling. In the past, “body count” was terminology used to give the number of casualties in war. Now I suppose it’s a way of tallying up casualties of a different sort – the casualties resulting from our war on our own sexual design. We have been fighting against nature and nature’s God – and that’s a war we will always lose.
Consent does not sanctify sex. Only covenant – the marriage covenant – can do that. God’s ways really are best. The Bible maps out the only sensible way to live, a way that meshes with our design. And that’s because the same God who created us wrote the Bible to guide us. We reject God’s Word at our own peril. When a culture pretends to be wiser than God, the results are predictable. Our technology, like the birth control pill or abortion, may lead us to think we can outsmart God and transcend our own nature, but it’s a Satanic lie. Technology changes but human nature does not. Technology changes but God’s law does not. Technology can enable us to rebel in new ways but it does not protect us against the consequences of that rebellion. The sexual revolution is really the sexual rebellion – and it’s the kind of rebellion that is always put down by God’s judgment.
All sexual activity outside of the marriage bond is degrading and dehumanizing. The only way to properly consent to sex is to promise “I do” before God and witnesses. The only way to have dignified sex is to honor the marriage bed as God commands. Concepts like consent and dignity are meaningless outside of the divine order.
The trail of wreckage left in the wake of sexual libertinism is too obvious for anyone to ignore at this point. The only way forward is to completely reverse the sexual revolution, to reject its lies, and to restore biblical ethics. In other words, we need sexual repentance on a scale commensurate with the sexual revolution. What does that look like? It means things like this: Outlaw and suppress porn. Shame premarital and extra-marital sex. Recover masculinity so men are competent protectors and providers. Restore femininity so women embrace motherhood and homemaking. Honor God’s institution of marriage. End no fault divorce. Overturn Obergefell. End the madness. End all of it.
Men need to be held accountable for their actions. But society does not much object to that. Women also need to be held accountable for their actions. And society is simply not ready to accept that reality. Women have agency and therefore responsibility. The biggest issue right now is simple: Can we rein in young women? Can we tell them “no”? Can we correct the feminist delusions so many young women have embraced? While feminism has increased women’s economic opportunities, it has come at a cost – it has reduced their opportunities for marriage and children, which are the keys to female fulfillment. What the Cornell 7 men did was utterly despeicable. But what Jane Doe did was also despicable. In the sexual revolution, both sexes revolted. Now both sexes need to repent.
The sexual revolution can only end in one of two ways: Either we repent, restore sex and marriage to what God intended, and reap his blessing; or we double down on our revolt against God, and our civilization goes down in the flames of judgment. There is no third option.
